Body of Missing Kansas Kayaker Found in Minnesota Lake

KANDIYOHI COUNTY, Minn. – A body recovered from Nest Lake on Tuesday has been positively identified as 39-year-old Shane White of Overland Park, Kansas, according to a statement from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office has not released any further details.

At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officers learned that White had left his vacation home on the south side of Nest Lake alone in a kayak and had not returned. A search in open water and along the shoreline began shortly after officers arrived and White’s kayak was located by officers at 1:15 pm on Sunday.

The Sheriff’s Office asked property owners in the area to check shorelines and outbuildings for White.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota DNR, the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, the New London Fire Department, the New London Ambulance, the Spicer Fire Department, Spicer First Responders, the Sunburg Fire Department, the MN State Patrol and the Kandiyohi County Water Rescue and Recovery Team. .
