CATTLE SHOWCASE …

MYLE beef, sheep, meat goat, rabbit, sheep and pig shows will be held

The fifth annual Minnesota Youth Livestock Expo (MYLE) is scheduled for Fairmont and Austin, Minnesota.

FAIRMONT & AUSTIN, Minn. – The fifth annual Minnesota Youth Livestock Expo (MYLE) is scheduled for Fairmont and Austin, Minn. The MYLE Beef, Sheep, Meat Goat and Rabbit shows will be held June 27-30 in Martin County. Fairmont Fairgrounds and the MYLE Swine Show will be held July 12-14 at the Mower County Fairgrounds in Austin. The MYLE Show will be open to all Minnesota youth between the ages of 5 and 21, including all Minnesota 4-H and FFA members, beginning January 1, 2024.

The MYLE Handbook with full rules, entry information and other details for the MYLE Show 2024 is now available online at: https://issuu.com/stephcronin/docs/2024_handbook

The entry deadline for the MYLE Show for all species is May 22, 2024, with late entries accepted until May 29 for a higher entry fee. All MYLE entries are made via an online entry system. The MYLE registration form and other information about the MYLE Show are available on the MYLE website at: www.mnyouthlivestockexpo.com.

Minnesota 4-H and FFA members, as well as other eligible Minnesota youth, are eligible and encouraged to participate in the MYLE Show. Young people may register multiple animals per species. Kent Thiesse, MYLE Show Coordinator notes that the MYLE Show is held in late June and early July to give young people the opportunity to show their livestock ahead of County Fairs, most of which are held in July and August, and that there also hosts a statewide livestock show prior to the Minnesota State Fair at the end of August.

Thiesse indicates that in order to adequately cover exhibition costs and provide prizes and prize money to youth exhibitors at the MYLE Show, exhibition organizers must rely on donations and sponsorship from companies and private individuals. Several generous donations have already been received in support of the MYLE Show 2024, but many more are needed. More information about MYLE’s sponsorships and donations is available on the MYLE website at: www.mnyouthlivestockexpo.com.

Questions about entry and participation in the MYLE Show, or about sponsorships and donations to MYLE, can be directed to the MYLE Show Coordinators: Kent Thiesse (507-381-7960) or Steve Pomerenke (507-848-8123).
